For me, it has to do with my faith. As you get older and grow you learn not only things about your faith, but also things about yourself. I believe everything happens for a reason and God doesn't make mistakes. When God created me, he created me in the image that was appealing to Him. So, every imperfection and every detail about me was done because He wanted me to be that way. If God wanted me to have green eyes he would've given me green eyes. If he wanted me to have longer hair he would've given me longer hair. If my imperfections are good enough for Him, why can't my imperfections be good enough for me?

I understand the influence the media has, peer pressure and things of that nature. I've been told I was never and would never be pretty enough. It took me a long time, but I've learned no matter how pretty I was or how smart I was, I would never be enough for some people. I'm learning to accept myself for who I am, what I am, and what I look like. As long as I like who I am, everything will be alright. If I don't like the way I look physically, I'll hit the gym and change it.

As far as insecurities go, they'll always be there. Everyone second guesses themselves every now and again. We're human. No one is perfect. I think you just have to learn to accept who and what you are.

I think the only time we as people are insecure Is when we feel someone else, has or Is something better than us. Security Is being aware of the greatness around you, but being confident enough to know what you got Is great in It's own way. It's not something that has a one, two step process to achieving, It's something every individual has to figure out how to do on they're own.

Insecurities has nothing to do with faith, religion, peer pressure, or media. Insecurities come within YOURSELF. No one can tell you what body part you should hate or how you should wear your hair, people especially teenagers need to learn that imperfections make you who you are. Some try to use the excuse of they told me that i needed to do this to look better and to do this to be cool, well your teacher insteels in you that you should do homework and study to make your grade better and your parensts tell you not to drink, smoke, etc.but guess what theres still people failing in school and theres also still drug addicts. Those people made that choice, just like you can make your own choices in life. If everyone was perfect the world would be a boring place.

is "complete sex" a good thing? im not sure

um im not sure what "complete sex" is but i sort of agree with canary bird and diamond doll. i kno they contradict each other but i believe they are both right to a certain extent. I mean insecurites do come from within, you do bring it out but i still believe its influenced by factors such as religion, peer pressure, media, etc. Personally if ppl were perfect the world would truly be a bore. But like i said its influential. I mean based on what you both said. Like if we lived in a world that didnt judge anyone or pose a stereotypical or cliche outlook on beauty, popularity or smartness, etc i mean then having to really look at yourself and compare to others truly wouldnt be an issue or an option. But when you watch tv and you see the celebrities who bring in trends who wear tons of makeup and hide their blemishes and you read magazines that tell you whats in and whats last year, you will tend to compare your life and attributes to such things and that brings out the one thing all human's have instilled into their mindset: flaws. You compare and you see flaws you bring out insecurities that bring upon a negative outlook upon yourself. The basic gist in the conclusion of this whole discussion is to be happy with who you are and be happy that you are your own person.

Hey Teyana. I saw this poem on http://www.flyguychronicles.com and it reminded me of a topic you brought up on ustream. I really like it, and wanted to share it with you because it is, in so many words, exactly what beauty should be, IMO. Sorry for the irrelevance to the above blog lol. P.S. I love you! :)

I told her she was beautiful…

She in turn responded, “thank you…that means a lot coming from a man that truly understands the word beautiful.”

She was right … I do understand it.

I’ve understood beauty from the moment I saw her face…
It became a part of my core when I first heard her voice…
And it has continued to live within me since she first touched my heart…

In my experience, all it takes is one encounter with true beauty to change your perspective forever.
